Why I Created Addicts Rebellion: My Addiction Recovery Journey

Pretty soon, I’ll be celebrating 9 years clean—this addiction recovery journey has taken me places I never thought I’d survive. If you had asked me 10 years ago where I’d be today, I would’ve told you the truth: either dead or in jail. And I wouldn’t have been lying.

But here I am—alive, sober, and finally doing something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.

This blog is my way of sharing what this addiction recovery journey has really looked like—ups, downs, relapses, breakthroughs, all of it.

Why I Created Addicts Rebellion

This website has been on my mind for a long time—honestly, the last 7 or 8 years. A couple years into recovery, I had another idea for a site. I even bought the domain. But in the end, I wasn’t ready. I didn’t feel like I had anything worth sharing.

Now things feel different. I’m more grounded. I’m more confident in my recovery. And I think I finally have something to give back.

This blog is my outlet to share the stories that shaped me—both the failures and the successes—with the hope that maybe someone out there will see a bit of themselves in it. Over time, I want this space to grow. I’d love to feature stories from childhood friends who are now clean, interviews with addiction and mental health professionals, families who’ve lived through this, and anyone else with a voice and a story to tell.

Every Recovery Path is Different

I know recovery is hard. There’s no one-size-fits-all. Everyone walks their own path, fights their own battles, and carries their own weight. I got clean alongside an incredible group of people—same program, same timing—but many of them aren’t clean anymore. Some aren’t even here anymore.

I want this to be a place where people can come and know that there’s hope. That there’s something better on the other side. And that no matter how far gone you feel, it’s not too late—if you’re willing to do the work.

Resources That Helped Me

If you’re starting your own recovery journey, Smart Recovery is a great non-religious support network that made a big impact on me early on. I’m also putting together a Resources page with more tools and links that helped me get and stay sober.

Thanks for being here. This is just the beginning.
